SUN's purpose is to provide a way for unschoolers in the Sacramento area to find and meet each other, share information, support and inspiration about unschooling and to serve as a forum for announcing area events and activities of potential interest. To accomplish this, SUN includes the following:

* an e-mail list through which discussion, articles and public activities are posted
* an informational data base of all members for networking purposes
* a monthly park day where members can meet each other to form potential friendships
* a lending library
